About us

N&R Resources Men’s Domestic Violence Intervention Program was developed in November 6, 2023, based on the theory, principles and curriculum of the Duluth Model, a nationally recognized program for promoting nonviolence. This model is an educational process using dialogue to promote critical thinking.

N&R Resources, formerly known as Orr Psychotherapy, has been dedicated to supporting individuals and communities for over 15 years. With extensive experience in the field, our founder and team are committed to providing effective, compassionate services aimed at creating lasting change. As an approved Batterer Intervention Program (BIP) by the Nebraska Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence, we are proud to offer a proven, evidence-based approach to help individuals take responsibility for their actions, learn healthier behaviors, and promote safer, more respectful relationships. Our program is rooted in accountability and designed to help break the cycle of domestic violence, ensuring a positive impact for individuals and families across Nebraska.

Philosophy

The philosophy of N&R Resources Batterer Intervention Program (BIP) is centered on the belief that perpetrators of domestic violence must be held accountable for their actions while being provided the opportunity and support to change their behaviors.

The key principles include:

Accountability:

Perpetrators are responsible for their abusive actions, and the program holds them accountable for the harm they have caused. This includes recognizing that violence is a choice and not an excuse due to external factors like stress or anger.

Non-Violence and Respect:

BIPs focus on promoting healthy, non-abusive behaviors and attitudes, emphasizing respect, equality, and non-violent conflict resolution in relationships.

Behavior Change:

The program aims to help participants understand the dynamics of abuse and work to change their abusive behaviors through education, reflection, and skill-building, focusing on developing healthy, respectful ways of interacting.

Safety of Victims

A critical component of the philosophy is ensuring the safety and well-being of victims. BIPs stress that protecting the victim and any children involved is a priority and that abusive behavior is never justified.

Community and System Collaboration

BIPs work in coordination with other systems, such as law enforcement, the legal system, and victim support services, to create a holistic response to domestic violence and prevent further harm.

Focus on Long-Term Change

The program recognizes that behavior change is a long-term process, and it encourages ongoing self-reflection and continuous effort from participants to maintain non-violent relationships beyond the duration of the program.
